Lecture “mini-tour” of Czech universities

An integral part of the "Books Discovered Once Again" project is the presentation of the results and visions of the project. Since we realised that projects represent one of the most important current tools in science and research, as well as in other programme areas, we decided that the target group to receive information on the project should be university students.

The mini-tour started on 15 October 2015 at the Division of Information and Library Studies of the Masaryk University in Brno, where we were invited to lecture in the Experts Block. We continued on 12 November at the Silesian University in Opava with students of the Institute of Czech Language and Library Science. The tour was completed on 23 November at the Department of Information Studies and Librarianship of the Charles University in Prague, on the so-called Jinonice Information Monday.

Tomáš Foltýn give the students information about the inside world of the preparation of international projects, outlined the goals and outputs of the "Books Discovered Once Again" project and the current situation in their fulfilling. Marcela Strouhalová then talked about the historical context of the reserve collections of the National Library.

We tried to demonstrate to the future librarians that the subject matter of the research into book collections is almost boundless, and outlined the possibilities for their own researches, for example for their theses. On behalf of the implementing team we hope that students find the subject interesting and that further probes into this issue will be made.

Moreover, our lecture inspired Monika Langerová, a student of the Masaryk University in Brno, to create infographiocs for the project.
